A high street foundation that has swiftly become my daily go-to. Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel 16hour foundation.
A drugstore foundation buy is very rare for me since the discovery of Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra, NARS Sheer Glow, Estee Double wear and the rest. My only religious repurchase of drugstore foundation is my No7 Beautifully Matte.
This retails at £10.99, a whole £2 less than the No7, but I got a free gift over a £12 purchase (a trusty new sharpener and a free Velet Lip lacquer later I was sorted). Who doesn’t love an impromptu trip to Boots?
I have to say I am a hand-on-heart fan of gel foundations, anyone remember the Rimmel True Match Gel foundation? That was my all time favourite and now you have to scour the Internet to find it (trust me, I have!).
This is a beautiful foundation, it smooths on, covers imperfections and I can build this up to a good medium coverage if having a bad skin day. Although not claiming to be mattifying, my face doesn’t show the signs of oil/shine central at all, it is gorgeously natural, dewy (not glittery or shiny) and is like my skin, but better. It brightens my skin up and I can safely confirm this after having a sleepless and horrendous week, little signs of this once I’ve applied! Plus it also contains vitamins and goji berries (to name a few) so should be kind to my forlorn skin.
I find it lasts a good 6-8 hours depending how much face touching/eyebrow rubbing/ chin on hand resting you do, more so if set with powder. I have found it does transfer fairly easily, but again avoided with a sweep of powder.
As my first dip into Bourjois foundation, I absolutely loved the little coverage chart on the back of the bottle – I think this is super handy, informative and thoughtful of the brand. I also have to say that this is the most accurate colour match of shy drug store foundation I’ve ever had. Genuinely. This alone gets the biggest thumbs up (for anyone interested I’m shade No52).
Would I recommend? Absolutely. It’s a bargain, has the same effect as NARS Sheer Glow but at a fraction of a price and is a great between-season foundation.
Have you tried this Bourjois foundation before?
